What is the fastest military plane in world?

Besides the test planes, what is the fastest military plane in the world that's in use regularly?|||The fastest currently in use is the MiG-25 (Foxbat-R) which is the reconnaissance version of the MiG-25 Fighter.





It was tracked in the Sea of Japan in 1976 at Mach 3.2 at 70,000ft (approximately 2,010mph).





It first flew in 1964. Only the recon version is still in service with the Russian air force; Algeria, Syria and Armenia still operate the fighter version.





The SR-71, which is out of service, still holds the record it made on July 28th, 1976 of Mach 3.3 (2,193.16 mph).|||Yeah right you russian fag the MIG is no where close as the F-16 or the F-22 and the the SR-71 Blackbird at Mach 3.2

Agility, which is the ability to maintain instantaneous and sustained G; rapid acceleration w/out using afterburner (which consumes a lot of fuel), and an integrated firecontrol system which reduces switchology are the goals of military aircraft today.


The F22, while it does have supercruise-which isn't working out exactly as promised BTW- has a top speed of about 1.8Mach. It doesn't have variable inlet ramps on the intake, so it is incapable of anything over that.


Some of have mentioned the MiG25/31 as "fastest". Theoretically, yes; however the engines have a tendency to accelerate out of control over 1.9 Mach, so it is "combat-limited" to about 2.5 Mach, or roughly the same as an F15C|||The super secret Black Bird (SR-71).

I don't remember the numbers, but , it will run circles around anything we have...sorry|||that's classified... the f-22 raptor is the fastest fighter jet in the world with dual stage afterburners that vector on demand. the sr-71 is the fastest recon plane and holds the record flight from la to new york but is used rarely these days. the russian migs are extremely fast with mach 2+ numbers along with the french mirage. the second tier speed jets would be the f-16, f-15, f-14, f-18. the slow pokes include the a-10, f-117, b-52, c-130, b-2 etc.|||fastest MILITARY jet in the world is the MiG-25 Foxbat|||I know the SR-71 was the fastest.
